I am a passionate hunter and fly fisherman, professional wildlife biologist, author, film maker, conservationist, and backcountry advocate. I grew up in the piney flatwoods of the Florida panhandle, and spent my childhood catching bluegills and bullheads from the nearby creeks and building debris shelters in a quasi Huck Fin type of lifestyle. To say that hunting and being outdoors is something I enjoy would be an understatement. These affinities have influenced every major decision I’ve ever made in my life. After graduating from Mississippi State University in 2007 with a M.S in wildlife ecology My wife and I headed west to find the place our hearts had always been. We settled with our young son Coye on a small farm in north Idaho and soon welcomed our second son Fen in 2012.
I started Twisted Stave Media on a whim while sitting in a hospital room awaiting Fen’s birth – you know what they say about idle hands… At first, it was all about woodsmanship; protecting and promoting the knowledge and skills that have served countless generations of outdoorsmen. But it soon grew into much more. Twistedstave.com now hosts the best collection of how to videos on traditional archery, bowhunting, and survival skills on the web, and I’m humbled to be surrounded by the team of knowledgeable outdoorsmen that are bringing such great content to this blog.
